5 minutes with Dominick Mancino

It's Only A Matter Of Time!

I recently spent 5 minutes with actor Dominick Mancino who has appeared in movies such as The Inside Man with Denzel Washington and Pride and Glory with Colin Farrell to discuss his start in acting and future plans.

JG: Thank you, Dominick for your time. Tell us, how did you get your start in acting?

DM: About 10 years ago my best friend was telling me that his brother-in-law was acting and he was just in a commercial for AT&T. His agent was looking for some new talent so we were both going to go down and sign up with her. Well, he got sick and decided not to do it but I wanted too so, with just a photograph in my hand I went by myself to sign up.

JG: You started your acting career later in life which is a testament that it’s never too late to follow your dreams. What did you do before acting?

DM: Yes Jim, I started late. I had always wanted to get into acting and would always stop and look when I saw the big production trucks around. I guess I was hoping to get discovered by anyone that was working around them. I married when I turned 22 and my wife and I started a family but I never lost sight of my dream. I have been an A/C mechanic and I am still working for a local gas utility company as a service tech. I’m getting ready to retire after 31 years sometime after the New Year and I plan to continue my career as an actor. Now that my kids are grown and on their own, I figured it’s time for me to follow what I always wanted to do.

JG: What are your least and most favorite aspects of the business?

DM: Well, my most favorite aspects are watching other actors perform. I enjoy watching them prepare to work out a scene just before its ready to be shot and how production crews ready the set. I can also appreciate the amount of hours and work that goes into a scene that might only take minutes in the finished edit.

My least favorite aspects would be doing a winter scene in full winter wear when it’s hot out and doing a summer scene in short sleeves when it’s cold out. Not sure why it works out that way……… (laughing) but it always makes me wonder.

JG: It’s only a matter of time before you land that starring role. What would be your ideal character to portray and why?

DM: Thanks, I do appreciate you saying that. I’m looking forward to that day when it will happen but I have to tell you, I have been lucky playing the tough guy and I’m not saying its a bad thing but I would like to show that I have more dept as an actor and I would like to be more diversified so the casting agents would take notice that not only can I play “those” roles, but that I can play other roles as well. Hey, how does a priest sound to you? (Laughing)………

JG: What can we expect from you in the near future?

DM: It’s funny. Sometimes you don’t hear about anything and then all of a sudden your getting calls and scripts. As for what I will be doing, well let’s see. I’m going to be getting myself out there more and I’ll be trying to get more auditions for those leading roles you said are coming (laughing)….. But I do have some proposals on the burner.

JG: Anything you’d like to leave your fans with?

DM: Oh yeah, definitely! I would want to say Thank You. Without your loyalty and love, we the actors wouldn’t have anyone to share our passion with and just so YOU know…… We love you too!

Dominick Mancino everyone! You certainly have my support and it is only a “matter of time” so remember, you read it here first.

Just over the passed year, I feel like I have been able to connect with and understand the man and artist that is Mr. Dominick Mancino. Not only is “Dom” absolutely hilarious when it comes to his great sense of humor, but he is also a great listener and someone that I am honored to call my friend. Luckily I have an unlimited calling plan, because otherwise I’d be on his :) -all my very best, Steve

Great interview with one of my closest friends. Dominick is being very modest here as always, that’s what makes him who he is …a great person and a wonderful actor! Bravo to you Dom! God bless, Tina

i haven’t met dominick in person, but i feel as though i know him through our conversations on facebook.he is a real gentleman, with a sincere heart, who cares about his fans. i don’t think there are very many actors who take time to personally respond to every fan, but he does this. i pray for him to get his “starring role” soon.i love the work that i have seen him do, and i know he has so much more to offer. God bless you Dom:)
